The Riquet station is located in north Paris' 19e. It serves metro line 7 in fare zone 1.
Riquet refers to the French engineer Pierre-Paul Riquet who lived in the 17th century. He was the head designer of Canal du Midi and upon his death, his sons finished the job.
The area near the station is a great way to explore some of Paris' many waterways. It is close to Canal St-Denis and Canal de l'Ourcq, which both meet up with Parc de la Villette at one point. The Parc de la Villette is host to the Cite Sciences and Cite de la Musique, one of the most prestigious music schools in Europe.
