About Place des Fetes Metro Station, Paris

The Place des Fetes station is located in north Paris' 19e. It serves metro lines 7bis and 11in fare zone 1. It is the deepest station of the entire metro, going nearly 23 meters below the earth's surface.
The entire 7bis line was first a small, 3 mile extension of line 7 but was later made its own line due to lack of traffic flow. It is now being joined with 3bis in a project that will be completed by 2013.
The area near Place des Fetes is surrounded by many waterways including the Canal Saint-Denis and the Canal de l'Ourcq. It is also close to the Parc des Buttes Chaumont and Parc de la Villette that hosts the Cite de la Musique and Cite des Sciences.
The district is mainly touristy however it has been growing in numbers as a residential area in recent years.
