If there was a dead center to Paris, Palais Royal – Musee du Louvre station is right there. It serves Metro Line 1 and is located in fare zone 1. Palais Royal – Musee du Louvre has access points along rue de Rivoli, Place du Palais Royale, and Place Collette.
The station retained the name Palais Royal since its opening in 1900. However, after the Louvre was redesigned and gained direct access to the station, it was renamed. The entrance at Place Colette was also redesigned in 2000 for the centennial celebration of the metro.
