About Couronnes Metro Station, Paris

Couronnes, located along blvd de Belleville, serves metro line 2. It is in fare zone 1, 11e.
Although the exact derivation of the name is to be determined, it comes either from Les Couronnes-sous-Savies or Les Trois Couronnes tavern. It was also a part of the big fire and stampede in August 1903 that killed 80 people.
Couronnes is situated on the Right Bank of the Seine is a very densely populated area. It is a very diverse place to live and is called "the eleventh" by locals.
The station is near several places of interest including Place de la Republique, Place de la Bastille, and has many cafe and tavern strewn streets.
